Raised in a Southern Baptist household, Lance has an older sister named Stacy. From a young age, he was interested in music, supported by his family, and sang in the choir at his Baptist church.

Lance Bass attended Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi. He later moved to Orlando, Florida, where he joined the pop group *NSYNC at the age of 16.
