Gustav I of Sweden (1496-1560)
Gustav I of Sweden, also known as Gustav Vasa, reigned as the King of Sweden from 1523 to 1560. He is celebrated for successfully leading Sweden to independence from Denmark, ending the Kalmar Union, and establishing the Lutheran Church as part of the Protestant Reformation. He founded the Vasa dynasty and implemented significant governance reforms that shaped modern Sweden.
