Guru Nanak (1469-1539)
Guru Nanak (1469-1539) was the founder of Sikhism and is best known for being the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Born in the village of Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib in Pakistan, he emerged as an influential spiritual leader who ardently advocated for devotion to one God, equality of all human beings, and denounced the caste system and rituals prevalent in society. His teachings, which emphasize love, equality, and service, form the foundational doctrines of Sikhism and are enshrined in the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Nanak traveled extensively to spread his message, and his approach to spirituality and social reforms has left a lasting impact, establishing him as a revered figure in Sikhism and beyond.
