Excellence Ilesanmi

Excellence (Lon) Ilesanmi is a Software Engineer with a background in Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. Born in Nigeria, Lon held early passions for physics and space science, however life has led him to diverse career aspirations spanning from software engineering to business ventures in property management and food health.

Lon was born in Nigeria and spent his formative years in Ibadan. His childhood was characterized by access to a lot of books rather than cartoons and video games like his peers. Moving around various cities in Nigeria during summer holidays due to his parents' academic commitments, Lon was exposed to a variety of educational environments and cultural experiences.

Lon initially enrolled in Chemical Engineering but switched to Electrical Engineering in his second year at Obafemi Awolowo University, finding it aligned more closely with his interests in physics and space science. He further expanded his knowledge by pursuing a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bath, driven by his curiosity and fondness for the subject during the Covid pandemic.

Lon is in a period of growth in his career, exploring options and solidifying his values. He spends a lot of his time reading and is on the path to transition from engineering to business sectors, including real estate and electricity metering. He has a unique trait of having taught himself to write with his left hand, reflecting his curiosity and willingness to learn new skills.

Lon describes his love life as “boring, for now”.

Lon aspires to become multilingual by learning German and Spanish and wishes to master musical instruments such as the guitar and piano. Professionally, he considers further education in either MBA studies or Astrophysics, depending on the trajectory of his business interests.

This passion was first ignited by 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens, which introduced him to the rich world of character-driven narratives. His literary interests also extend to philosophical tales with deep moral questions, such as Fyodor Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment' and 'The Brothers Karamazov.' These works resonate with his curiosity about the human condition and the philosophical dilemmas that shape our lives. In addition to these classic novels, Excellence is captivated by the romantic and social intricacies in 'Pride and Prejudice,' penned by Jane Austen. The nuanced portrayal of relationships and societal constraints in this novel appeals to his interest in character development and social commentary. Beyond these literary genres, Excellence harbors an enthusiasm for cowboy stories, with a particular fondness for the 'Floating Outfit' series by J.T. Edson, which offers thrilling narratives set against the backdrop of the Wild West. His reading list is further enriched by his love for Christian fiction, which provides narratives infused with faith and redemption. Among his favorites are 'Silver Trumpet' by J.
