Early Life

Martins Olawale Olajide was born in Sokoto State, Nigeria, into a large family with seven siblings. His family frequently relocated due to his father's position in the secret service, which resulted in him growing up in fifteen different cities. This nomadic lifestyle endowed Martins with adaptability and a broad perspective, though it also fostered a sense of detachment from places and people.

Education

Martins' educational journey was as varied as his childhood, having attended multiple schools across different cities. He ultimately pursued his passion for technology by studying Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University. This period marked the beginning of his lifelong dedication to software development and systems architecture. He spent most of his time at the university building Indie apps, including the first version of WikiMoi

Work

Martins Olajide developed a passion for computers early in life, influenced by his older sister who was studying Computer Science at university. This environment provided him access to advanced systems and technologies beyond typical exposure for his age. By the age of 13, he was already modifying game source codes to create easier gameplay experiences. At 17, he began developing a speech-to-age recognition system known as MARS, aimed at preventing underage access to adult content. The project secured early-stage investment through the TENT initiative, backed by angel investor Nick Jekogian. Martins spent four years developing MARS independently and later used it as the basis for his university thesis. He also launched a website that predicted users' ages based on their voices, which served both as a public demo and a data collection tool to improve the underlying model.Upon graduating from university, Martins began his professional career at Konga, then Africa's largest e-commerce platform. There, he worked with a global team of engineers on cutting-edge technologies and large-scale distributed systems, gaining substantial industry experience. After one year at Konga, he joined Opay, an African fintech unicorn, as a founding engineer. He collaborated closely with engineers from Opera Software to build Opay's core payment infrastructure and led the development of key products, including the company’s savings solution.Following two years at Opay, Martins joined Deimos Cloud, a certified Google Cloud partner specializing in hybrid multi-cloud solutions. He spent six months at Deimos, working under the mentorship of seasoned cloud professionals. In 2020, Martins relocated to Germany to join Delivery Hero, a multinational online food delivery company headquartered in Berlin and operating in over 70 countries. He currently serves as a Staff Software Engineer, where he oversees the design and architecture of systems that process millions of food delivery orders daily.

In addition to his technical skills, Martins has diverse interests, including writing short stories on topics such as humanity and faith. He also harbors a passion for football, envisioning himself as a potential football manager due to his insights into the game. Additionally, he enjoys watching anime.

Dreams and Fantasies

Martins aspires to continue his work with Wikimoi, a project he believes will transform human perception and interaction. He is also dedicated to supporting a church in Berlin, with the vision of fostering community in a city that's often perceived as cold and lonely. His dream also includes writing works that cover various themes significant to his beliefs and experiences.

Martins Olajide's passion for sports is evident in his aspirations and affiliations. He has expressed a deep love for sports and dreams of becoming a football manager someday after completing his coaching badges. A dedicated supporter of Manchester City Football Club, Martins follows the team with enthusiasm and hopes to contribute to the sport in a managerial capacity in the future. Beyond football, Martins has a keen interest in motorsports, particularly Formula 1. He passionately supports the Ferrari racing team, with a significant bias towards the talented driver Charles Leclerc.
