Mike Dirnt, born Michael Ryan Pritchard on May 4, 1972, is an American musician renowned as the bassist and backing vocalist for the iconic punk rock band Green Day. Formed in 1986 with lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day became internationally recognized after their breakthrough album, "Dookie," released in 1994. Dirnt's unique bass lines and dynamic stage presence have been pivotal to the band's distinct sound and live performances. In addition to Green Day, Dirnt has been part of side projects such as The Frustrators. His contributions to punk rock have influenced many subsequent musicians.

Born in Berkeley, California, on May 4, 1972, Mike Dirnt was adopted by a Native American mother and her husband. His early childhood was significantly impacted by his parents' divorce at the age of seven, after which he lived with his mother and sister. He faced various financial challenges growing up in Rodeo, California. However, music soon became a refuge for him. His current marriage to Brittney Cade began in 2009, and they have two children together: a son, Brixton Michael, born in October 2008, and a daughter, Ryann Reese, born in November 2010.
